Welcome to the Sai Institute of Rural Development (SIRD).
India’s villages are home to extraordinary knowledge, traditional wisdom, skilled artisans, dedicated farmers and resilient women entrepreneurs. Yet, the true potential of these communities can only be realized when knowledge, technology, innovation and market opportunities reach the grassroots.
At SIRD, we believe that rural development is not merely about welfare—it is about creating opportunities, building capabilities and enabling communities to become self-reliant. Our mission is to transform local resources into sustainable livelihoods by integrating traditional knowledge with scientific research, digital technologies and entrepreneurship.
Since our early initiatives under our parent organization, Yuva Gramya Vikas Samiti, we have continuously worked to bridge the gap between research institutions and rural communities. This journey has evolved into the establishment of SIRD as an independent knowledge institution, enabling us to expand our vision and build stronger collaborations at the national level.
Today, SIRD works with leading research organizations, government institutions, universities and industry partners to promote technology transfer, women-led enterprises, value-added rural products, digital inclusion and sustainable development. Our focus is not only on creating enterprises but also on nurturing an ecosystem where innovation becomes accessible to every village and every aspiring entrepreneur.
We firmly believe that women are the driving force of rural transformation. When rural women are equipped with knowledge, technology and entrepreneurial skills, they become catalysts for economic growth, social progress and community resilience. Every successful woman entrepreneur strengthens not only her family but also the future of her village.
As we move forward, our vision is to establish SIRD as a National Centre of Excellence for Rural Innovation and Women Entrepreneurship—a platform that connects research with society, technology with tradition and innovation with sustainable livelihoods.
